The Confidence to Share
Your Faith
Why is it so dog-gone difficult to share your faith? I think there are several reasons.
-
It is spiritual war and Satan does all he can to make it hard
on us.
-
It is spiritual war and people who are not believers resist
the truth.
-
It is so complicated to learn the various plans of salvation. Besides, which one is the best to use.
-
You have to be a theologian to answer all of the questions people throw back at you.
-
These days there are so many other religions and philosophies out there, it is really difficult to talk intelligently to people with other belief systems.
-
Modern society accepts all beliefs as equal. It is really hard to go against the grain of “tolerance” and talk to people about the “one true way to God.”
All of these reasons are a part of the mix and there are probably even more. So what is a Christian to do?
Well, if we start out with the premise that we have been brought up to accept, it is extremely difficult. We learned that in order to be a good witness we need to learn some form of the plan of salvation, then somehow work our way into people’s lives in order to share it. It still works sometimes, but these days that approach is working less and less.
It used to be that society supported our understanding of God. But we now live in a day where the marketplace is full of people with entirely different understandings of reality. We used to be able to pull out The Four Spiritual Laws and share that “God loves you and has a wonderful plan for your life,” and people understood what you meant by “God.” That is not always the case anymore.
To deal with that we need to understand worldview. This is the tool that missionaries use to get at the way that other people understand truth and reality. So, if a witness needs to start by sharing that there is only one God, you don't start out by assuming that they know what you mean when you say, “God loves you.” This seminar teaches you how to use worldview in a way to help you become an effective witness to people who believe differently than you do.
If you would like to explore the possibilities of how you can set up a training opportunity for your church, friends or marketplace colleagues, please contact MarketFaith Ministries at 850-383-9756. We look forward to the opportunity to serve you.
