What We Do
As we look at the big picture in American society, it quickly becomes evident that things are not right. Our Christian heritage, and even our very faith, are under attack as never before. In the process of trying to put forth their own version of faith, Secularists, and others, are attacking our nation’s very Christian foundation. There is a vicious war going on for the hearts and minds of the people of our nation. This war is being waged in the media, in our classrooms, in corporate boardrooms, in the halls of our political institutions, in front of the water cooler at work, and even in many of our places of worship.
It is not that having debates about faith is a bad thing. In fact, they actually provide us with a tremendous opportunity to share our own faith.
But things have moved well beyond the debate stage. The outward expression of these attacks are evident in society regarding issues such as abortion, sexual morality, religious beliefs, pornography, homosexuality, religion in the public square, drug and alcohol abuse, gambling, the role of the family in society, race relations, justification of terrorism and unjust war, and many others.
As Christians, we know, intuitively, that there is a line that has been crossed. But too often we are not completely sure where that line is, much less the best way to respond to attacks against our faith. As a result, we often feel completely helpless to do much about it
I believe the main reason for this weakness is that most Christians have a massive gap in their knowledge base and their understanding of the task that is before us.
At least in a broad sense, we do tend to know what we believe. When we entered into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ our lives were changed and the Spirit of God poured this knowledge into us. The problem out in the marketplace, however, is not that we don’t know what we believe, it is that we don’t know why we believe it. When confronted with other beliefs, the average Christian simply doesn’t know how to evaluate and compare them with their own Christian faith. Because of this uncertainty and lack of confidence, most Christians find it easier to simply keep quiet.
But it doesn’t have to be that way. The Christian faith can stand on its own two feet in the marketplace of ideas. Our faith is not simply a personal and emotional experience, it is a fact! God really exists as an objective person and has revealed himself, his ways and his desires. We can know all of this, and we can know that we know. Not only that, we can confidently put this reality up against the false beliefs of any other faith system.
There are signs that God is up to something in our society, and in localized pockets it is very exciting. But if we are to see a full blown work of God that literally changes the current trends, it will have to come from the Christian men and women in the marketplace as they become light and salt in the world. It will require a massive movement of confident Christians who know what they believe, why they believe it, and are able to express that faith in the world.
MarketFaith Ministries was created to help everyday Christians understand their faith in a way that gives them confidence to stand strong for their faith and give a powerful witness in the marketplace. On this website you will find a great abundance of materials which are able to give you knowledge and understanding of your own faith and the faith of others. There are books, articles, radio interviews, debates, links to other worldview sites, and other resources that you can “dig your teeth into.” All of these resources have been prepared in such a way as to give you answers to help you more fully understand your own faith and help in dealing with those who would oppose you.
In addition to that, we provide various training opportunities so that people can get direct teaching about worldview and its practical implications. We have various ongoing opportunities, but also provide a means for you to have the training brought to you.
It is our prayer that you will find the resources of MarketFaith Ministries to be helpful to you in your spiritual growth and witness. Feel free to contact us any time we can be of service to you.
God bless,
