About the Executive Director
The founder and
Executive Director of MarketFaith Ministries is Freddy Davis. Freddy grew up
in a Christian family in Tallahassee, Florida, and was very active in his
church from his youngest years. He came to know the Lord at age sixteen and
felt God’s calling into full time Christian ministry at age seventeen. In
1974 he graduated from Florida State University with a degree in
Communications.
Following graduation
from the university, Freddy married his pastor’s daughter, Deborah, and
worked for two years (as a photographer and then as a state worker) while
she finished her undergraduate degree. Upon her graduation, they moved to
Ft. Worth, TX to attend seminary. Upon completion of his masters degree, he
returned to Tallahassee and served as a church pastor.
Freddy served his
first church for two years, and during that time felt the Lord’s calling
to go into international mission work. He and Deborah were appointed by the
Southern Baptist International Mission Board and moved to Japan where they
served for nearly twelve years. During that time, Freddy furthered his
academic education by completing his Doctor of Ministry Degree at
Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
In the period that
Freddy was serving in Japan, the Iron Curtain fell. With that, he and
Deborah felt God’s leading to transfer to the former Soviet Republic of
Latvia, where they served for an additional five years.
Following
that,Freddy sensed the Lord’s leading to return to the states. Upon his
return, he became a bi-vocational church planter and has been involved in
starting two new churches in Tallahassee. To help support himself during
that time, he started his own company, TSM Enterprises, and began writing
and speaking.
The work with TSM
Enterprises has opened up new doors, as well as provided a new vision for
ministry. God has used the experiences of being in the marketplace to help
him more fully understand the needs of Christians in that arena, and to
nudge him in the direction of providing a solution for that need.
Freddy currently
lives in Tallahassee, Florida with his wife Deborah and son Ken. He is the
author of ten books, the latest of which is Culture Wars: What You
Believe Does Matter.
